Just spent 2 weeks in London (Chesham) working at Millenium FX (http://www.millenniumfx.co.uk/) and it was extremely helpful. Got to see the process in action and have a much better idea how industry works. Will update with pictures and with some of the notes I took on processes. Most of all I learned just how important the finishing process is... LOTS OF SANDING!
In addition, I have finally decided what I want to do for my commercial exploration thanks to Pete! I'm aiming to make three busts of creatures/characters and apply different techniques to their finish. More on this later. Must write up my learning agreement.

New Day, new idea...
Was thinking about ideas last night and was considering looking into puppet making today. Will look more into it now.

Captain's Log 001: The journey begins...
Just brainstorming ideas. Paul introduced me to man named Nick who needs character models/toy prototypes made for a children's book. May look into this...
Another idea I had was creating a character maquette for Leto II from God Emperor of Dune, either based on my own drawings or concept art by another artist. Would need to visit toy designer and/or animation studio.
One other possibility might be to browse http://www.conceptart.org/ and maybe contact one of the artists to discuss possibility of making a maquette for one of their characters.
All in all, I definitely want to head down the toy/maquette sculpting route.
